Antichi Sapori a taste of Italy

I remember the first time i went into Antichi Sapori. I was working near by and wanting to enjoy my lunch break. I saw outside that you could get any pizza or pasta and a coffee for 10e and desided to try it. I am very critical of Italian food. my granddad is an Italian man and i have summered in italy most of my life. So i have very high expectations on what pizza should taste like. I rarely ever will order pasta in a restaurant as i am a bit of a snob that way. Why would i order pasta in a restaurant when it takes only a few minutes to make a yummy pasta sauce. But every so often i will find a place that will have something on the menu i cannot resist. In this case gnocchi in a four cheese sauce. It was a rainy day i needed a pick me up and this was just the thing. the gnocchi was not home made like i would have preferred but it was done perfectly. gnocchi is a potato flour based pasta and as such very easy to over cook and turn gluey and unappealing. But in this case they cooked it perfectly the four cheese sauce was so creamy and full of cheesy flavors I actually wanted my lunch break to never end. Here is a picture of this amazing feast.
So upon the success of my first pasta experience in this place i returned the very next day again on my lunch break. I just could not resist the foodie in me wanted more. this time trying one of there pizzas. I have to say it is the best pizza i have ever had outside of Italy. the thin base the quality of the tomato sauce the ingredients that go on top of it all work together perfectly. nothing is ever overpowering on one of there pizzas. I always get an extra bit of chilli oil as it reminds me of pizzas in the Rampolina when i was younger and i love the little extra kick i get off it. I tried there Napolitana first. this is a very basic italian pizza you will find in most pizzerias it is a margaritta with added anchovies. it is one of the most delicious things you could ever possibly eat however the choice of anchovies used can very quickly ruin the whole experience. if too salty or too many on it it could soon be one of the worst pizzas you ever try. Allot of people do not like anchovies but i love them. they improve so many sauces and flavors. but i can understand that on there own perhaps they could be too much for someone.Every bite of this pizza made me feel like i was on holiday on lago maggiore. It was bringing me back to great memories and fantastic food. It is amazing how food can do that to you. after this i just kept coming back.

So i continued to go here regularly to enjoy the food but also listen to the italian music in the background and enjoy the simplicity of the decor and the friendly staff. the early bird menu is 22.50 i believe for a 3 course meal and they have takeaway deals for the pizzas 10e with a can of drink last i checked. This restaurant is one of our towns little known gems and i cannot recommend it enough. the Guinness pizza is divine if you are unsure of what to go for i recommend it as it is something different. this is not a fancy restaurant it is pizzeria that will bring you on the cheapest holiday of your life. You will feel like you are in Italy for the length and price of your meal. Here are a few more pictures of food i have enjoyed here to give you a better idea of the place. oh and if you like desert strawberry tiramisu divine sweet creamy fruit goodness.and its all washed down with an authentically Italian coffee

Revolution takeaway

Recently we decided to try Revolution new delivery option. The menu looked amazing very varied including various beers. was very impressed. seemed a little bit expensive but if the food was up to standard i did not mind. We opted for the family meal deal 25€ this was set to inculde 2 bacon cheese burgers, 2 portions of fries, one large meat lovers pizza and 2 cans I also ordered two portions of dip as i really enjoy dipping my chips. The dip seemed pricey at 2€ but i figured the dips would be homemade and big so I said i would try one taco and one piripiri.

the delivery arrived on time and the chips and bacon cheese burger where absolutely tasty out the chips still had skin on them and the burger was juicy and full of flavor. The dips where however two of the smallest portions of dip i have ever seen and they where pre-made sauces this was very disappointing as i really enjoy my dips. The pizza was also terribly disappointing I would say it was a frozen pizza base. pizza ristaurante pizzas would have been just as good unfortunately and it was not cut into portions. this could obviously been teething problems as the delivery and takeaway side of the business are new, but as revolution has been trading as a restaurant for quiet some time i fear this may not be the issue.

The beer menu is a very interesting one and i wish them well on this venture.

Here are some pictures of the meal we had on this occasion

the meat lovers pizza I would not recommend this to a pizza lover unfortunately
 very good quality burger
 these chips where very tasty
the dips not 4€ worth of dips in my opinion

Eastenders Birthday Extravaganza All You Can Eat Buffet

So last night My Husband, aunt, grandmother and myself said we would go to eastenders to try this all you can eat buffet. Which was very brave for my grandmother to be fair, and well 6.99€ is not really a huge amount to pay if she did not want to eat the food. Eastenders are having this buffet till the 21st of septembers i believe. It is 6.99 or 4.50€ for children and allows you 2 hours of eating. it is taking place between 12 and 12 during these dates. this is to celebrate the fact Eastenders is in Waterford 11 years.

Well I have to say, We used to go to Eastenders allot when it opened first but for some unknown reason we stopped going. So this was the first time i had eaten there (other than ordering takeaway) in many years. I Loved it,the staff are friendly and helpful. they could not do enough for us. the spread was very impressive and included starters mains and desert. My grandmother did not end up liking the Indian food so they made her chips specially for her and kept making sure she had enough. i enjoyed being able to try a bit of everything there was not a single dish i could say that i did not enjoy. But of course i had a favorite there Korma was just so creamy and tasted of spices but not in an overpowering manner really good food.

I actually regret not having gone there more often in the last few years after the amazing treatment we got. When it came to pay much to my surprise they only charged us for 3 meals and grannys chips. which was not at all what we where looking for as I said 6.99€ to enjoy a meal with my granmother was very much so acceptable. But obviously for a customer care point of view this was a very nice gesture.I will be back that is a definate. My granny said they where the best chips she had ever had and that the man was very pleasant. both very high praises form a woman who knows what she likes. So if i where you guys I would apsolutly go down there and try avail of this offer. But to be honest I would just go down there anytime you fancied some indian.

Here is a link to a menu of there on just eat https://www.just-eat.ie/restaurants-eastenders-indian/menu

Charly's Cheesecakes Heavenly Treats

Charly's cheese cakes are some of the best cheese cakes I have ever had the pleasure of trying. I have had the pleasure of running into Derek at several food events around Waterford. The first time I heard about these amazing creations was in fact at winterval. this was one of the only stalls i heard anyone talk about during the whole run of this event. this showed me that he had to have a high quality product. so  I contacted him to find out for myself and a fast growing cheese cake addiction started

They are creamy yet biscuity they can be found in almost every flavor. In fact I am sure Derek would enjoy trying to find a flavor he could not recreate. Recently he ran a competition to recreate all the flavors in a box of  roses, and recreated them to perfection. He also ran a lindt competition and a ferror roche collections one and although i have not yet had the honor of trying these i am sure they are delicious.

I have had the great joy of trying several of his flavors: mars, citrus, Belgian chocolate, raspberry, kinder bueno, malteser, caramel center to give you just a few examples. and every single one of them has been scrumptiously devine.

His prices are unbelievably fair considering the quality of the finished product and their presentation. eating one of these cheesecakes is literally like comparable to eating heavenly clouds. the texture is so creamy light and devine. the taste is both delicate and defined. it is present and you can certainly tell which flavour is which but you do not ever feel the flavor be over powering in anyway shape form.

If you have a sweet tooth these guys are for you. I personally do not have a sweet tooth I am more of a bacon kind of girl but even i get tempted by these bad boys. try them for yourselves here is a link to get in touch with them.

Morzio's singapore restaurant 9e all you can eat starters and one main course

So I'm blogging about the great value high quality restaurant as many people have been asking me about it.
Yes it is allot of food but most of all it is quality food and to me that is very important. You absolutely need to try this place but it is very important you book it to avoid disappointment.

The starter buffet is made fresh for customers as they come in it is not a stagnant buffet.the buffet includes 3 types of spring roll (meat, veg and chicken and cheese) really meaty ribs in a divine sticky bbq sauce crispy potato cakes, chicken cakes, chicken wings, prawn toast, breaded mushrooms to give you just a brief over view of the starters that are available in the buffet but i do believe that these change nightly.

the main course you get to choose one out of a very varied menu and boiled rice ,fried rice or chips. I opted to have the roast duck in xo sauce (2e extra to have the duck)  the duck was roast to perfection the xo sauce seemed to me to be a spicy hoisin sauce variant. very very tasty. my husband and friend both had curry one beef one chicken both tasted very peppery and yummy the meat was nice and soft and not rubbery in any way.of course i had to try a bit of everyone's. How else could i write a blog on it???

I have found the staff to be very helpful and they make you feel like a vip at all times. I have been there 5 times on different occasions and they know my name. I always find that to be a great little touch customer service is definitely important to them. We celebrated one of my friends birthdays in there. and i was too busy all day to actually get her a cake so i rang them and asked could they put a candle in an ice cream for her. they said no problem. much to my surprise they actually put on birthday music for her and the waiter wore a sheriff hat. was a very sweet way to celebrate a birthday and above and beyond what i had asked for. I was very impressed by this customer service

Fast Food 2: Walsh's take away

In the name of fairness i wish to report on all types of foods. especially local business that allow us to eat well and on the cheap as is the need in these times.
If you are a fan of chippers as i often am after my yoga class. (life is all about balance yoga/chipper food is my balance)I recommend you try walshs. they have a large menu with many recession busting deals as they call them. these include snackbox buy one get one free for 6e(valide sun to wen).My personal favorite is the battered sausage scallop box for 5e this gets you 4 scallops chips and a can too. which is unbeatable at 5e. I always get myself a taco dip as ive a lill bit of a taco sauce problem. (well if you think that the fact it goes with EVERYTHING is a problem)If you have 2 people to feed worry not. you could get two specials of course or... you could avail of the 10e offers which will not disappoint they are HUGE portions and incredibly tasty.

I would not recommend the pizza however. I tried it once and even though it was incredible value at 6.50. I did not enjoy it one bit. it was under-cooked and over-cheesey. absolute pity as everything else i have had here has been very worth while.

My recommendation : try either their Whirly burger. I know what is a whirley burger you ask? basically its a big super tasty battered burger that they put in a bun. If not alone. try the 10e special battered sausage special it comes with a big portion of chips,2 large battered sausages, one portion of scallops, one portion of onion rings and 2 cans or a large bottle of drink depending on availability.i will upload pictures of this deal below.

Good eating you guys and let me know how you get on. http://www.just-eat.ie/pages/menucard.aspx?restusername=walshs here is also a just eat link to there menu

L'Atmosphere Waterford for the foodie of all budgets

L'atmosphere Waterford I am unsure any written words can describe my love for this place.

I myself grew up in France so have a very serious crush on french food. its what i grew up with. my parents always made a point of treating us as a family to some of the best food places in our surroundings. my relationship with food is hugely to do with my Italian-Irish father and my Irish mother moving to France when i was 3 years old. so yes french food is my favorite. But i love all foods.

L'atmosphere however won me over with their unbeatable menu. My favorite thing on there menu is the cote the beof 32oz of the finest meat to share you will probably ever taste. However should this not be in your price range why not try there 20e meal???this will allow you 3 amazing ever changing courses and a glass of wine. It is one of the best quality and value for money meals this town has to offer.

I say ever changing courses as the chefs en-devour to be inventive all of the time. it is not a stagnant menu like other surrounding restaurants specials are included in the 20e value meal allowing you to eat there often and never be bored of the menu. But of course many of you will find a favorite and stick to it and that is perfectly acceptable also. the beof bourginon has won awards. the portions are anything but small and the staff are INCREDIBLE.

If you like fish Arnaud himself sources the freshest and most seasonal local catches around. Patrice is a one of the most accomplished patisserie chefs i have ever come across and you have to try the creme bruler.there is something for everyone in this restaurant. so much so myself and my husband had our wedding meal here.I cannot in words explain the beauty of this place so please try it for yourself.

Fast Food that rocks my world :) Amigos Burrito Bar

Ok Ok i know fast food is bad for you. However as fast food goes amigos burrito bar is definitely one of the best vices to have. If for some strange unknown reason you a Waterford person have yet to try this place well... hang your head in shame. If you consider yourself a foodie get yourself down there post hast...

the menu includes burritos, fajitas, burrito bowls, nachos, salads veggie options its all here. prices vary from 5e to 9e and ill be honest its worth every cent in the happiness it will give you. You can sit in or eat out but they do not deliver. not because they are against delivery but because they respect the quality of their food to much to risk you loosing out on the taste in transit. that to me is a sign of true quality.

my personal recommendation is for a new comer to try tacos soft or hard shell ill leave that up to you. I'm a soft shell kinda gall. this option will allow you to try 3 different types of meat. and if you like me really want to spice it up taste wise ask for different veg and salsa in each one. i recommend one pulled pork with sweet corn salsa n onion, one creamy chicken with spicy salsa n black beans and one steak with the other beans and spicy salsa also treat yourself pay the extra for the guacamole.

Trust me you will eat all three and you will be asking yourself could you fit three more. but don't take my word for it. get down there before i start using south park cartman quotes to convince you.

baked potato of amazing
 3 different tacos

how this all began

So over the last few weeks an increase in people asking me to start a food blog has been quiet apparent to me. So i decided to go for it. My name is Rebecca and food is my passion. I have loved food as long as i can remember. Some of my earliest memories would be my great grand mother feeding me giant slices of water melon or going to fancy restaurants with my parents to try new foods that most children of my age would not have been brave enough to try. I would from an early age always have known what i wanted and what i liked, could and still can spend hours just describing tastes. so much so several of my friends find it hard to be around me without getting hungry themselves. I see this as a huge compliment, the fact that my words alone can get someone hungry.

I have always loved food this is exactly why i decided never to be a chef but always to be a cook. The fear that my love for all things culinary might get lost in the studies and hard work it takes to be a chef left me feeling that being a cook for my family and friends would be far more rewarding for me.

This blog will be to do with all things food. farmer markets, local restaurants, restaurants i have traveled to and sure a few of my personal and family recipes may also pop up. most of all i hope to get anyone reading this to be more adventurous and passionate about the food that fuels us. yes we need to eat but how about we eat differently enjoying and savoring EVERY BYTE!!!
